Sommerville to be served with warrant

Marco Sommerville will face criminal charges within hours of arriving at CAK Sunday night, according to a spokeswoman at the Sheriff's Office.

While the county and the feds are still debating jurisdiction, the SO tells me that they expect to serve him with a warrant on Monday when he surrenders. In other words, a plan is coming together for that to happen.

I would expect Sommerville to make his initial appearance at Barberton Muncipal Court, plead not guilty, and then be released. He'll still have to go through booking at the County Jail but I wouldn't expect him to spend a night in the slammer.

Sommerville's has committed to speaking with Ray Horner Monday morning on WAKR-AM and will even take calls. That says a lot about how he plans to handle his public image upon returning.

Marco continued to show his stripes by backing out of the agreed upon appearance this morning on WAKR.

If he wants his attorney(s) to be his mouthpiece he needs to quit playing both sides of the street.

His credibility continues to take hit after hit.

So wait a minute, according to the story on NewsNet5.com, Marco rejected a an offer to reduce the charge to a misdemeanor in return for a guilty plea. He wants to take this to trial?

He admitted he took a loaded gun into the airport. He is not disputing this at all. All he is saying is that he didn't knowingly carry the weapon. I'm sorry, but there is nothing in the law about that says you knowingly have to carry the gun into the airport to be guilty. All it says is that carrying a gun into the airport is prohibited.

I honestly hope the prosecutors pull the plea deal off the table, make Marco take this case to trial and that the jury convicts him on the felony charge. He should have taken the plea, admitted his mistake and taken the consequences like a man.
