Internal memo that came out today:"NBC Universal tallied 214 million total viewers for the 2008 Summer Olympic Games in Beijing over 17 days, solidifying it as the most watched event in U.S. TV history, according to Nielsen. This tops the 1996 Atlanta Olympics at 209 million viewers and the 2004 Athens Games at 203 million."
Think folks will still be able to recall the name "Michael Phelps" in January?

Curious ... what were the numbers after Phelps stopped swimming?
As I recall ... his final event earned like 66 million viewers on its own.
I lost almost all interest in the prime-time coverage after swimming ended.
Don't worry, Michael Phelps' name and image will be plastered all over products in your shopping cart ASAP!
