Major news at TV3. Tim White, WKYC part ways

Tim White, my colleague and friend of the last 10 years, is leaving WKYC. The announcement was made to our staff a short time ago.

I haven't had a chance to talk with Tim yet, but as the announcement hits the press, I wanted you to see what we know in the newsroom .. so click here for our story.

Tim is top-notch ... and will certainly be missed.

More in the weeks ahead .. but this will be tough on our newsroom. Eric

What happened to your post on the presence of God at the Cooey execution?

You're all very kind ... but that wasn't why I posted this.

Just know that our newsroom has already been through a LOT with the tough economy and this is another major change. And Chris, somehow I knew you'd think of that one. You soooooo worked in TV.

We'll see where the newsroom is headed next, but we need to stay focused right now and do the best job we can.

Sorry to see that Tim is leaving. . . it's time to move channel 3 to Akron and get Eric in the anchor chair!

What is WKYC thinking? Why would you not come to contract agreement with the most credible and professional anchor in Cleveland? He is the reason I watch, despite having to also watch the insipid Romona Robinson. He will surely be snapped up by a bigger market station. But, I'll miss him.

I can't believe it. My husband read this to me the other night and I had to check to make sure it was true. We almost never miss the 6:00 and 11:00 news because we admire the cast of channel 3 and love their professionalism.
I have to agree with everyone on this. Eric you belong in that chair. We will miss Tim and hope the best for him.

I have to agree to with the person who stated-"we will miss the most professional and credible anchor in the city of Cleveland". Tim White was the reason I watch this station he has a way of doing the news that makes you want to listen and learn more. I think Channel 3 is making a HUGE mistake not keeping him on. Best wishes to whatever Mr. White does in the future.

I think that people in the news media in this area are seeing the writing on the wall - that it is better to bail out of an area with a sharply shrinking economy and leave for greener pastures than to be handed a pink slip and suddenly find yourself out of work with no money and nowhere to go.

I'm a lifelong resident of this area and I have been watching the economy of this area go south for over 20 years, especially when our heavy industries began to shut down or disappear. Rubber, steel, automobiles.....all of that was the heart and soul of our NE Ohio economy for so many years. Generations of families worked for the same company, made a living, bought nice homes, raised families and sent kids off to college on factory salaries.

I once aspired to be a journalist in my youth. I started out as a journalism major at Kent State in the fall of 1975, but the theatre stole my heart and wooed me into its lures and I couldn't let go, so I took my degree in that field. Sure, I couldn't make a living with my degree, so after four fruitless years of job searching during a major downturn in the economy, I landed one at the Main Library in downtown Akron and have been there ever since.

I think it must be hard right now for people graduating with journalism degrees to figure out what they are going to do, with print media disappearing and fewer and fewer people even watching TV news. Now, I suppose if one could become a professional Internet blogger and get paid for it and make decent money, I guess that'd be the route to go.....

My kids and I feel the same...the news just won't be the same. :(

Tim White was why I watched Channel 3 news. I think Stacey Bell from Channel 8 is more down to earth than Ramona Robinson. I've since switched to 8, without Tim, 3 is just not the same.
